Audemars Piguet New Watches

First introduced in 1996, the futuristic Millenary collection is one of the youngest members of the Audemars Piguet family, and it shows the greatest Italian influence. Designed to mark the coming of the 3rd Millennium, their cases introduce our age of a shape once popular with pocket watches in the late 1500s. They are no doubt the most misunderstood and lampooned watches produced by Audemars Piguet. The Millenary owners affirm that what may appear strange in print, is surprisingly elegant on the wrist.

The limited edition (80 pieces) perpetual calendar shown above was created in 1998 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Classique Perpetual Calendar -- the first ultrathin automatic perpetual calendar produced by Audemars Piguet. It displays a wonderful symmetry with its rarely-seen pointer moonphase subdial, and its understated guillocage. Like most of Piguet's perpetual calendars it is based upon calibre 2120. On this particular model the rotor has been elaborately engraved and pierced.

The collection Lady Royal Oak has been completely revisited and redesigned. The objective was to achieve a new ‘freshness’ while still conserving the very special features of the design. That can decidedly incorporate new elements without losing its personality or its elegant nature.With a ‘universal’ size of 33 mm, the Lady Royal Oak has seen its famous octagonal bezel slightly curved. The polished and satiny surfaces offer new plays on light, and are enhanced by a diamond-set bezel in the jewellery versions. Care has also been focused on the dials. Against the characteristic sky blue or silvered background, the luminescent hands have been tapered and the equally luminescent hour markers take on the form of fine ‘navettes’. In the gold the dial is made of natural mother-of-pearl with diamond hour markers. Various bracelets are proposed according to the watch: smooth tan leather for steel timepieces, white mat crocodile leather, sky blue for the steel or gold, diamond-set versions and steel or gold pieces.
